Job description
Research Fellow (Terahertz Spectroscopy and Quantum Sensing)

The National University of Singapore is seeking a highly motivated and talented Research Fellow to join our group. The successful candidate will work on advanced projects at the intersection of condensed matter physics, terahertz (THz) spectroscopy, and quantum device engineering.

The position offers the opportunity to develop and explore new experimental platforms for probing correlated quantum materials and advancing quantum sensing technologies.

Job Requirements

Device Fabrication & Characterization

  • Fabricate and characterize high-quality quantum material devices with precise control over structure and electronic properties
  • Conduct low-temperature electrical and optical experiments in cryogenic environments

Experimental Research & Development

  • Develop hybrid measurement platforms integrating THz spectroscopy with transport techniques
  • Perform systematic studies of electronic, optical, and superconducting phenomena in low-dimensional systems

Quantum Sensing Applications

  • Explore novel approaches to quantum sensing across multiple platforms, including electronic, photonic, and hybrid devices
  • Investigate strategies for high-sensitivity detection and control at cryogenic and room temperatures

Collaboration & Dissemination

  • Collaborate with internal and external partners in physics, materials science, and engineering
  • Publish research outcomes in high-impact journals and present findings at international conferences
Qualifications
  • PhD in Condensed Matter Physics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline
  • Strong background in at least one of the following areas:
    • 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures
    • Low-temperature transport or optical spectroscopy
    • THz technology and instrumentation
    • Superconducting devices and quantum measurement techniques
  • Hands-on experience with nanofabrication, cryogenics, and sensitive measurement platforms is highly desirable
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  • Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research, teamwork, and independent problem-solving
