Job summary

Health New Zealand – Gisborne Hospital is seeking a compassionate Health Care Assistant to join the Renal Department. Working under RNs and health professionals, you will provide high-quality patient support and contribute to safe, person-centred care in a busy clinical setting.

This role involves assisting with patient care, supporting the clinical team with admin tasks, maintaining a safe environment, and helping whānau have a positive experience while upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 3 Certificate (or equivalent relevant qualification).
• Ability to work under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse or other Registered Health Professional.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach.
• A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving Māori health outcomes.
• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy healthcare environment.
• A commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and quality standards.
