Whakarongorau Aotearoa is hiring an Early Mental Health Response Clinician for the Crisis Team, offering a remote, full-time role with NZ-wide coverage. You will triage calls, assess risk, and provide culturally responsive support to people in distress.

You will work with Police, Ambulance and crisis teams, documenting thoroughly and coordinating next steps while embracing Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in acute mental health settings (Crisis Team, liaison psychiatry, community MH, inpatient MH or triage).
• Registered with NZ Professional Registration Board and hold Annual Practising Certificate.
• Experience delivering telephone triage and interventions using recognised tools.
• Experience with suicide risk assessment and management.
• Confident using multiple IT systems and engaging in reflective practice.
• Strong Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally safe practice.

Responsabilités

• Deliver high-quality mental health telephone triage using the UK triage tool and de-escalation strategies.
• Build rapport with service users and whānau to create effective support plans and referrals.
• Collaborate with Police, Ambulance, crisis teams and frontline partners for seamless handovers.
• Maintain accurate, professional clinical documentation for continuity of care.
• Apply clinical guidelines and act as shift coordinator when required.
