Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Telecom Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and optimize core network infrastructure. This remote role includes occasional site visits in South Africa and will influence the technology direction of a major provider.
The ideal candidate has 7+ years in telecom network design, strong knowledge of MPLS, DWDM, IP routing, BGP/OSPF, and Ethernet, plus 4G/5G experience and security best practices. CCIE/JNCIE are highly advantageous.
Qualifications
- Bachelor-level degree in a related field.
- 7+ years in telecommunications network design and implementation.
- Experience with core network tech (MPLS, DWDM, IP routing, Ethernet).
- Desirable 4G/LTE and 5G exposure, and CCIE/JNCIE are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and oversee core telecom network infrastructure.
- Evaluate new technologies to boost performance and reliability.
- Draft technical specs and configuration documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally for seamless deployments.
- Lead performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization.
- Troubleshoot complex issues and guide resolution.
- Ensure designs meet standards, security, and regulation.
- Manage vendors and assess equipment/service offers.
- Stay updated on industry trends and roadmap influence.
