As part of our strategic growth planning, Fletcher Vautier Moore is seeking an experienced Relationship Property Lawyer to join our existing non-contentious relationship property team.

This is more than just another legal role. It's an opportunity to lead and build in a niche area at a respected practice, working alongside an outstanding team, and to develop a meaningful career in one of New Zealand's most desirable regions.

This is a unique opportunity to combine the stability and reputation of a long-established firm with the career opportunities, leadership pathway, and modern work environment of a firm actively investing in its future.

We offer the stability, reputation, client base, and referral networks that come from decades of trusted service, while continuing to invest in growth, innovation, and the next generation of leaders.

Our continued growth means we are actively investing in career progression, professional development, and client-focus. Our team enjoys a brand-new Richmond office, a newly refurbished Nelson office, featuring modern, flexible workspaces designed to support collaboration, professional excellence, and flexible ways of working, along with our smaller (but no less important) Motueka and Tākaka offices.

Our people enjoy rewarding work, collegial support, and the lifestyle benefits that come with living and working in Te Tau Ihu.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Relationship Property Lawyer to advise clients on:

While the role offers significant autonomy, you will be supported by our existing non-contentious relationship property practitioners, along with our property team and civil litigation team. This provides a strong platform from which to grow the practice while drawing on the knowledge, expertise, and referral relationships that already exist within the firm.

For the right person, there is a clear pathway to progression, increasing leadership responsibility, and the opportunity to help shape the future direction of the practice and the firm.

About You

You will have:

At least 5 years' post qualification experience in relationship property

Exceptional personal skills, and ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues

The confidence to manage files independently

Strong drafting, negotiation and advocacy skills

Sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach

A collaborative, growth mindset and commitment to professional excellence

Experience in contentious relationship property matters or broader family litigation will be highly regarded.

What We Offer

The stability, reputation, and opportunities that come with being part of one of Nelson's longest-established law firms

A genuine opportunity to play a key role in the firm's future

Clear pathways for career progression and leadership development

The opportunity to develop and lead a specialist relationship property practice within a growing firm

Strong internal support from established property, litigation, and private client practitioners, together with an existing referral base

Flexible and hybrid working arrangements

Modern working environments, including our brand-new Richmond office and newly refurbished Nelson office

A collegial, supportive, and high-performing culture

High-quality work and a well-established client base

Ongoing investment in your professional and personal development
