Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children in Hamilton South is seeking qualified social workers to support tamariki and rangatahi. You will conduct assessments, develop intensive intervention plans and work with families and whānau to ensure safer outcomes.

The role requires SWRB registration or eligibility, cross-cultural competence, a clean driver's licence and excellent communication skills. Join a team dedicated to tamariki first and professional development.

Qualifications

• Full registration with NZ SWRB or eligible to register.
• A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB.
• Knowledge of Tikanga Māori and Pacific cultures; cross-cultural practice.
• A full, clean, current driver’s licence.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated resilience, problem solving and flexibility.
• Proficient PC skills with strong report writing ability.

Responsibilities

• Meet with tamariki, rangatahi and families to listen and assess needs.
• Complete assessments of need and formulate intensive intervention plans.
• Participate in hui-ā-whānau, family group conferences and partnerships with agencies.
• Collaborate with community groups and local iwi to improve outcomes.
