Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking Registered Nurses to deliver Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) in Medical Oncology at Waitematā, serving patients across the Waitematā region. You will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team focused on high-quality, equitable cancer care.

The role emphasizes patient- and whānau-centered care, continuous learning, and opportunities to mentor junior nurses within a growing service.

Qualifications

• New Zealand Registered Nurse with current Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
• Oncology or Medical Oncology post-registration experience preferred.
• Ability to support patients and whānau with evidence-based cancer care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) to patients.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary medical oncology team to develop care plans.
• Provide patient- and family-centered care across Waitematā.
• Support mentoring and development of junior staff.

About the Role

Major uplift in medical oncology treatment services across Aotearoa! Join a leading cancer and blood service. Over the past year, the New Zealand Government has increased the medicines budget by more than $600 million over four years. This funding will pay for 33 new cancer medicines and 33 new noncancer medicines. Health NZ has also received extra funding to make sure it has the staff and resources needed to provide these medicines, including in community and rural areas. This means we are now growing a new service at Waitematā as part of Regional Oncology.

We are therefore pleased to offer Registered Nurse opportunities in Medical Oncology delivering high-quality care to patients across Waitematā.

About the Team/Service/ Location

These positions will be based at either North Shore or Waitakere Hospitals.

As a Registered Nurse delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), you’ll be part of a dynamic, collaborative, multidisciplinary medical oncology team, providing patient-focused care, contributing to service development, quality improvement, and mentoring junior staff. You will bring clinical expertise, a commitment to continuous learning, and a passion for equitable, evidence-based cancer care. About you

To be considered we will need the following:

• New Zealand Registered Nurse, with a current Annual Practising Certificate


• Have post-registration experience in Oncology or Medical Oncology is preferred
