Job summary

Whangarei Hospital’s Cancer & Blood Services is seeking a NZ registered nurse for a permanent part-time role, 24 hours per week. You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering outpatient oncology, haematology and radiation oncology care.

You’ll provide safe, patient-centred nursing, coordinate care, educate patients and whānau, support treatment journeys and contribute to service development in Te Tai Tokerau.

Qualifications

• NZ Registered Nurse with current APC.
• Experience in oncology nursing is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

About the Role

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people affected by cancer and blood disorders. Working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care across outpatient Oncology, haematology and Radiation Oncology services, including Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy (SACT). You’ll build meaningful relationships with patients and whānau, coordinate care, provide education and support, and work alongside experienced specialist nurses, medical staff, pharmacists and allied health professionals to deliver exceptional outcomes.

About the Team/Service/Location

Cancer & Blood services provide both Haematology and Medical Oncology out‑patient services including SACT administration. You will be working alongside a wide team of multi‑disciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver specialised care.

Cancer & Blood services opened the door to providing Radiation Oncology for Northlanders from the end of July completing the range of cancer services offered in Te Tai Tokerau. Working within a tight knit specialist team in the beautiful Te Tai Tokerau, and within the wider regional team, you will always be supported to grow personally and professionally.

About you

• New Zealand Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate (APC)


• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills

• Previous experience in radiation oncology, medical oncology, haematology, is desirable but not essential
