Job summary

New Zealand Government Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora Tauranga Hospital invites applications for a Registered Nurse in the Outpatients Service (OPD). This permanent part-time role (0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week) spans three sites and multiple clinics, with in-house training provided to support diverse ambulatory care.

You will perform clinical assessments, assist with procedures, manage complex wounds and castings, and work with children in youth outpatients while delivering vital health

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current practicing certificate and a minimum of four years practical hospital experience.
• Strong assessment, communication and organisational skills.
• Good computer literacy with standard hospital data platforms and information systems.

As a Registered Nurse in the Outpatients Service (OPD), no two days are ever the same. 3 different sites and multiple clinics you will need to procure the skills to manage (all training will be supplied in house). You will be responsible for clinic workflows, ensuring patients are efficiently prepared ahead of their specialist appointments, alongside performing clinical assessments. Your daily duties will include assisting with procedures, conducting complex wound management, orthopaedic casting, alongside working with children in child and youth outpatients and providing essential health education to patients and their whānau. We have most specialties onsite that use the outpatients service so if you like variety and change this is the place for you.

The Outpatient Department (OPD) at Tauranga Hospital operates as a critical, fast-paced ambulatory care hub covering a wide variety of medical and surgical clinics. Our team is a highly collaborative, tight-knit, and multidisciplinary unit comprised of Consultants, Registrars, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and dedicated administrative support staff. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, welcoming, and culturally responsive environment for both our patients and our colleagues.
