Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Hawke's Bay is seeking a Registered Nurse for Addiction Services at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Hospital. This permanent, part-time role (64 hours per fortnight, 0.8 FTE) focuses on withdrawal management and specialist nursing care to people experiencing alcohol and other drug dependence, in community and inpatient settings.

• Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse within Addiction Services, you will provide safe, evidence-based withdrawal management and specialist nursing care to tangata whai ora experiencing alcohol and other drug dependence. Working across community and inpatient settings, you will undertake comprehensive assessments, develop and implement detoxification care plans, monitor withdrawal symptoms, administer and monitor medications, and support individuals through their recovery journey.

Our Addiction Service provides specialist support for people experiencing alcohol and other drug-related challenges, offering withdrawal management, recovery-focused interventions, and connections to ongoing treatment and support services. We are a collaborative, multidisciplinary team committed to delivering equitable, culturally responsive, and person-centred care that empowers tangata whai ora on their recovery journey.

Based in Hastings, you'll be part of a passionate and supportive team working to improve health outcomes across Hawke's Bay.

About you

As a Registered Nurse, you will bring:

• Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• A postgraduate qualification in addiction, mental health, or a related field.
• Experience working within community-based addiction services.
• Knowledge of co-existing mental health conditions and recovery-oriented practice.
• Strong assessment, communication, documentation, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.

Desirable:

• A current PDRP portfolio.
• DAPAANZ registration.
• Membership of DANA.
• Experience working within integrated addiction and mental health environments.
