About The Role

Here is your chance to practice the full midwifery scope while working with a connected, culturally responsive team that places whānau at the centre. This role invites passionate Registered Midwives to contribute across antenatal, labour, birthing, and postnatal care, empowering māmā and pēpi during one of life’s most meaningful journey’s.


Based at Whakatāne hospital, you will provide woman-centred care in a safe, supportive, and emotionally rewarding space. With a diverse caseload and supportive colleagues, every shift offers the opportunity to grow, connect, and make a lasting impact.


About the Team/Service/ Location

Ko Matariki Maternity Unit is grounded in a women-centred care model, supported by a multidisciplinary team of dedicated midwives, nurses, and healthcare assistants. We are a connected, culturally aware service that champions teamwork, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

About You

You are a confident, compassionate Registered Midwife who sees the whole whānau and tailors care with respect and warmth. You thrive in a collaborative environment and approach your work with curiosity, cultural safety, and a steady heart.


What You Will Bring


  • New Zealand Midwifery Council registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate.

  • Demonstrated experience across antenatal, birthing, and postnatal care.
