Job summary

Ministry of Education New Zealand is seeking a Regional Leadership Advisor based in the Hawke's Bay and Tairāwhiti regions. This 1–2 year secondment role commences 28 January 2027 and is a fixed-term, full-time position designed to coach principals and raise leadership capabilities across schools.

The role reports to a Director of Education and involves face-to-face and remote support, working with Kāhui Ako and clusters to enable transformational change and improved student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Current or recently retired school Principal (within the last 12 months).
• Experience leading across primary and/or secondary sectors.
• Ability to coach and support school leaders with integrity and mana.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership coaching and support to principals.
• Facilitate collaboration across clusters and Kāhui Ako.
• Drive transformational change and share best practices across regions.
• Work with regional colleagues to support school leaders and improve outcomes.
