A leading humanitarian organization in Palmerston North is seeking volunteers for its Refugee Support Team. Volunteers will assist former refugee families with settling in and accessing services. Training will be provided for practical and social support, and flexibility in volunteering hours is essential. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.
We are looking for more volunteers to join our team to support the arrival of former refugee families to Palmerston North.
You will need to attend training sessions before becoming a Refugee Support Volunteer
You’ll need to be flexible. There are no set shift times for this role. The time you spend with a family will vary week to week.
You’ll be helping people navigate life in a new country, which might include:
Refugee Support Volunteers mostly serve out in the community based on the families needs. Volunteer training and meetings are hosted at the Red Cross Service Centre.
You’ll receive comprehensive training in how to give practical and social support, as well as intercultural practice.
