About the Role

Te Nikau Hospital & Health Centre is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our Integrated Administration Team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, equitable healthcare services for the West Coast community.

The Integrated Administration Team at Te Nikau works in close partnership with Te Tai o Poutini West Coast clinical and non-clinical teams, as well as external stakeholders, to support healthcare services that are equitable, accessible, caring, and kind. As part of this team, you will ensure that tangata (people) of the West Coast receive the care they need through seamless administrative support.

This role involves acting as part of the 24/7 hub for Te Tai o Poutini West Coast, primarily based at Te Nikau Hospital but with occasional work across other sites. You will manage patient entries, handle administration tasks, and maintain accurate medical records, ensuring patients have efficient and appropriate access to services in accordance with Health NZ policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support in line with Health NZ policies, the wider health system, and community needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow procedures to ensure the privacy and dignity of all patients.
  • Collaborate effectively within the team and across the organization to improve the long-term delivery of administration services.
  • Manage point-of-entry processes, including patient arrivals, fee charging, and telephone services (Touchpoint).
  • Respond to emergencies (e.g., 777 calls or fire alarms) and follow established procedures.
  • Maintain medical records, ensuring they are accurate, up-to-date, and accessible.
  • Liaise with the ISG department to troubleshoot technical issues and ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Manage financial processes, including invoicing, fee collection, payment reconciliation, and daily banking.
