Job summary

Responsibilities

• Driving the client in his mobility vehicle to local destinations.
• Supporting trips to parks, cafés, shops, or to purchase food.
• Encouraging participation in short walks and community activities.
• Providing gentle, patient encouragement when the client becomes reluctant to move on or engage in an activity.
• Suggesting alternative activities that are enjoyable and suitable for individuals with autism and ADHD.
• Supporting the client to build confidence and enjoy positive experiences within the community.

LILS/SD/MA Personal Assistant - X2 Personal Assistants required - Bank/Casual cover - Nelson area

We are looking for reliable and caring Personal Assistants to provide holiday and sickness cover for a 28 year old non-verbal male living in the Nelson area. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference while working flexible hours.

The client has autism and ADHD and enjoys getting out into the community with the right encouragement and support. He is friendly, sociable, and enjoys interacting with those supporting him. He is not physically aggressive but can become excitable and playful

The role involves supporting the client to access the local community, helping him enjoy meaningful activities and maintain an active lifestyle. This may include:

• Driving the client in his mobility vehicle to local destinations.
• Supporting trips to parks, cafés, shops, or to purchase food.
• Encouraging participation in short walks and community activities.
• Providing gentle, patient encouragement when the client becomes reluctant to move on or engage in an activity. At times, he may choose to sit and remain in one place, so the successful PA will be able to motivate and reassure him to continue the planned activity at a pace that suits him.
• Suggesting alternative activities that are enjoyable and suitable for individuals with autism and ADHD.
• Supporting the client to build confidence and enjoy positive experiences within the community.

The client is independent with eating and does not require assistance with personal care.

A driver with a full clean license is required and you must be eligible to drive a mobility car.

This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check paid for by employer.

This is a part time position with an hourly rate of £12.71 plus 5.6 weeks paid annual leave and workplace pension scheme.
