Our client has an exciting and rare opportunity to join a small regional hospital on the beautiful South Island of New Zealand.
This position would suit an Emergency Medicine Specialist who is keen to make a real difference in a smaller community and location.
The role is based in a community-owned trust hospital offering a range of public and private integrated services, including 20 inpatient beds, a 24/7 Emergency Department, maternity services, a GP practice, dental clinic, specialist outpatient clinics, Allied and Community Health services, MoleMap, lab, radiology, and Mobile Surgical Services, serving a population of approximately 20,000.
The ED is staffed by Nurse Practitioners and Physician Associates (USA trained). It is a rural level 2 ED funded to stabilise and transfer patients to the tertiary base hospitals in Invercargill and Dunedin. Current Specialists/Consultants there cover both ED and Inpatients. However, the employer can be flexible if you only want to cover the ED or the Ward, but must be open to at least one night shift per week/fortnight.
Gore is a charming town nestled in the heart of Southland, New Zealand. It sits on the banks of the Mataura River and serves a multi-cultural rural community with a population of just over 12,000. The area offers proximity to lakes, mountains, forests, rivers, and the sea. It is family-friendly and known for its outdoor lifestyle. The region also hosts an annual country music festival.
