Steel & Tube, New Zealand's leading steel solutions provider with over 70 years of history, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join our Reinforcing Auckland team. Based in Auckland and reporting to the National Commercial Manager, this blended role combines the full commercial responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor with practical estimating on reinforcing steel projects across construction and infrastructure.
You will manage project costs and contractual integrity throughout the lifecycle — preparing claims, variations, budgets and forecasts, handling retentions, bonds and final accounts, and ensuring compliance with the Construction Contracts Act and standard forms (NZS 3910, 3915, 3916 and SA-2017/2025). You'll also prepare estimates and material take-offs for rebar, mesh and accessories, analyse drawings, obtain quotes and submit competitive tenders. Working closely with internal teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors, you'll protect margins, resolve payment issues, manage debtors and maximise recoveries.
This is a hands-on commercial role that offers real ownership of financial and contractual outcomes. Whether you are an intermediate QS ready to step up or an early-career professional with strong foundations and a hunger to learn in a fast-paced environment, you will gain broad exposure to both cost control and estimating while contributing directly to project profitability and Steel & Tube's reputation for excellence.
Join a trusted New Zealand company with a collaborative culture and a national network delivering essential steel solutions. You’ll work on meaningful projects, develop your commercial and estimating skills, and be part of a team that values integrity, results and continuous improvement.
