Job summary

BestStart Lakeside is seeking a qualified teacher to join the Preschool Room for a 7-month fixed-term maternity cover. You will support children's learning, contribute to the curriculum and build strong relationships with children and whānau, working collaboratively within the teaching team.

The role requires a BEd/Dip Teaching (Level 7, ECE or Primary) and current teacher certification, plus experience with preschoolers and knowledge of Te Whāriki and ECE regulations.

Qualifications

• B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE or Primary) and current Teacher Certification.
• Experience working with preschool-aged children.
• Good understanding of child-led curriculum, planning and extending children's learning.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of the current ECE Regulations and Te Whariki.
• A strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through pedagogical practices.
• Passion and commitment for teaching and learning with a focus on delivering quality.

Our centre is looking for an experienced teacher to join our Preschool Room, working alongside a supportive team of experienced educators.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Qualified Teacher to join our Preschool Room for a 7-month fixed-term maternity cover, working alongside three experienced team members.

You will support children's learning and development, contribute to our curriculum, build strong relationships with children and whānau, and work collaboratively as part of the teaching team.

This is a 40-hour per week position, Monday-Friday, commencing 12 October 2026 and finishing 7 May 2027. There are two shift options: 7.30am-5.00pm or 8.15am-4.45pm.
