Job summary

Hynds Pipe Systems Limited in Christchurch is seeking a QA Technician to join the quality team ensuring concrete pipes meet national and international standards. You will perform hydrostatic testing, pre/post-pour QA checks, dimensional inspections and NCR handling in a hands-on laboratory setting.

The role requires a tertiary QA/science/Civil Eng qualification, strong attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 20kg.

Qualifications

• Experience in QA, civil engineering, science or related field.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Hands-on approach and safe lifting capability.

Responsibilities

• Product, load and water-tightness (hydrostatic) testing on concrete pipes to standards
• Pre-pour and post-pour QA checks on precast concrete — mould dimensions, reinforcement, finish and marking
• Dimensional checks on pipes and reinforcement cages, and repairing products as needed
• Raising and closing out Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when products don't meet standard
• Supporting concrete trials, sample prep, and testing of sand, aggregates and additives
• Keeping the lab and test equipment clean, calibrated and audit-ready
• Compiling and reporting QA data, and flagging out-of-tolerance results
• Providing relief cover across Batcher, Gatekeeper, Precast, Pipe and Lab roles as needed
