  • Effective oral and written communication.
  • Working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Can use Microsoft Office suite (Word and Excel).
  • Can keep detailed written file notes, complete client pathway documentation and provide formal assessment reports as required.
  • Internship open only to University of Otago Clinical Psychology students.

Psychology Internship 2027Forensic Mental Health Service and Early Intervention in Psychosis ServiceDunedinFull-time, fixed-term from 11 January 2027 - 17 December 2027The Forensic Mental Health Service and Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIPS) are seeking a full-time psychology intern who will work across both services, with dedicated time in each.The Forensic Mental Health Service provides specialist assessment, treatment, care and rehabilitation for people experiencing significant mental health difficulties who are involved with the criminal justice system and/or who may present a risk of offending.EIPS works with 16-30-year-olds with first-episode psychosis or first-presentation psychosis and their families/whanau, and women of any age experiencing first-episode or first-presentation post-partum psychosis. EIPS is an outpatient service providing treatment and support for up to three years.About the roleThe primary purpose of the role is to:Under the guidance of their supervisor, to provide high quality clinical psychology service in the assessment and treatment of clients, ensuring clients' needs are met in a culturally, clinically and legally safe manner. The intern psychologist functions as part of a multidisciplinary team.Clinical psychology is a discipline integrating science, theory, and clinical knowledge for the purpose of understanding, preventing and relieving psychologically based distress or dysfunction and to promote subjective wellbeing and personal development. Psychologists assess and treat mental, emotional and behavioural disorders. Clinical psychologists use the science of psychology to treat complex human problems and promote change.
