Job summary

Ministry of Education New Zealand in Lower Hutt invites applications for a Te Kahu Tōī Intensive Wraparound Service Psychologist (0.8 FTE, Permanent). The role provides psychological assessment and intervention to support children/young people within a multi-agency team, using wraparound practices.

The successful candidate will be a NZ Registered Psychologist with an active practicing certificate, capable of collaborating across agencies and across diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Must be NZ Registered Psychologist with current practising certificate.
• Ability to work in multi-agency, trans-disciplinary settings with the child/youth at the centre.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with wraparound or related child/youth services is a plus.

Responsibilities

About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga

As Te Kahu Tōī IWS Psychologist (0.8 FTE Permanent) you will work as part of a team to understand the underlying needs of the young person and family and implement evidence-based interventions in your areas of expertise. More specifically, you:

• Identify patterns or contributing factors that may be influencing learning, wellbeing and development.
• Contribute to strength based collaborative team processes to meet the young person's underlying needs.
• Provide ongoing, individualized, and dynamic psychological assessment and intervention.
• Support all those around the child to use evidence informed practice.
• Monitor implementation effectiveness by supporting data collection and informed decision making.

Salary range: $96,215.00 - $116,816.00 per annum plus KiwiSaver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you | Mōhou ake

To be successful you will need;

• To be a New Zealand Registered Psychologist under the Health Practitioners Competency Assurance Act and hold a current practicing certificate.
• Ability to contribute your specialist skills within multi-agency, trans-disciplinary settings where the child/youth are at the centre of everything you do.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• An ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families, teachers and other professionals across a diverse range of settings
• The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tirirti o Waitangi and tangatawhenuatanga
• The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Using wraparound as an evidenced framework, you will change the everyday practice of families, teachers and others that nurture tamariki. You will receive initial and ongoing training in wraparound practice, comprehensive practice support, supervision, and opportunities for professional development to continue to develop skills in relevant areas of expertise and interest.

About our group and team | Mātau rōpū ake

Te Kahu Tōī Intensive Wraparound Service Taranaki to Wellington serve clients referred by RTLB or Learning Support practitioners. You will be part of a team of Te Kahu Tōī Psychologists and Facilitators that provide comprehensive, evidence-based interventions to support children/young people with challenging behaviour, socio-emotional difficulties and complex learning needs across a range of contexts. The team works collaboratively with children/young people, parents/caregivers and family/whānau, schools, agencies, and local communities to develop and implement comprehensive ecological wraparound plans. The priority for these plans is for the child/youth to achieve success at home, school and in their local community.
