Job summary

Better Days - NZ in Auckland is seeking a compassionate Psychologist to join our interdisciplinary team. You will conduct psychological assessments across home, community, and clinical settings, manage diverse caseloads, and deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs.

Applicants must be NZ-registered with an Annual Practising Certificate, hold a relevant degree, and be willing to travel Auckland-wide using your own car.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with NZ Psychologists Board and Annual Practising Certificate.
  • Membership with NZ Psych Society or NZ College of Clinical Psychologists.
  • Willingness to travel Auckland-wide and hold a NZ driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments in home, community, and clinic settings.
  • Manage a diverse caseload including ACC training for independence and private clients.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions (e.g., CBT) tailored to individual needs.
  • Develop, monitor and review client treatment plans and goals.
  • Maintain confidential clinical documentation per standards.
  • Communicate with Keyworkers and the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.

As a Psychologist at Better Days, you will play a key role in supporting clients with psychological, emotional, and behavioural challenges to achieve meaningful recovery and independence. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments in home, community, and clinical settings
  • Manage a diverse caseload including ACC training for independence, psychological services, and private client work in line with NZ practice standards
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions (e.g. CBT and other therapeutic approaches) tailored to individual needs
  • Develop, monitor, and review client treatment plans and rehabilitation goals
  • Conduct psychometric, behavioural, and functional assessments as required
  • Identify barriers to recovery and support clients toward independence
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with Keyworkers, the interdisciplinary team, Recovery Partners, referrers, and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated care and timely progress updates
  • Provide early education to the family/whānau of the client on the effects of psychological problems to foster strong recovery and coping strategies
  • Maintain accurate, confidential clinical documentation in line with organizational and professional standards
  • Manage your own caseload and schedule in collaboration with the Administration team to ensure efficient appointment management
  • Meet ACC and other funder reporting requirements within agreed timeframes

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology (or an equivalent recognised qualification)
  • Current registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and a valid Annual Practising Certificate
  • Professional membership body (e.g. NZ Psych Society, NZ College of Clinical Psychologists
  • A current full New Zealand driver licence
  • At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in a relevant field
  • A strong understanding of the New Zealand healthcare system
  • The ability to work autonomously providing in-home and community-based support
  • You embody Better Days’ values and are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • You’re available to travel Auckland wide.
  • You have your own car
  • You can provide evidence of your right to work in New Zealand
