Connetics in Christchurch is actively seeking a Protection Technician to join our team. You will perform testing, commissioning, maintenance and fault finding of protection systems and substation equipment across the network, contributing to reliable power delivery.

You'll work with experienced technicians on varied projects, including zone substation protection schemes, documentation, standby duties and travel when required, with opportunities for ongoing training and career development.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Electrician with a current practising licence or hold a Level 5 Power Technician qualification or equivalent.
• Experience in protection testing, commissioning, substations, or a related electrical environment.
• Knowledge of protection relays or Omicron testing equipment is advantageous.

About the Role

We're looking for a Protection Technician to join our Christchurch team.

Working alongside experienced technicians, you'll carry out the testing, commissioning, maintenance, and fault finding of protection systems and substation equipment across the network. This is a varied role offering exposure to new projects, maintenance work, and fault response while supporting critical electrical infrastructure.

You'll be involved in:

• Testing and commissioning substation and protection equipment
• Fault finding, maintenance, and repair of protection systems
• Commissioning zone substation protection schemes and associated equipment
• Preparing inspection and test documentation and supporting project delivery
• Supporting standby, fault response, and travel when required

About You

You'll thrive in this role if you have:

• Experience in protection testing, commissioning, substations, or a related electrical environment
