Job summary

Ergo Consulting is seeking a Protection Section Lead to join their Power Systems Leadership Team in New Zealand. Reporting to the Head of Power Systems, you will lead Ergo's Protection Engineers, guiding complex HV/MV projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Ideal candidates have proven leadership in the energy sector, strong NZ standards knowledge, and a track record of delivering high-quality engineering solutions while expanding client relationships and capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience as Protection Engineer or related HV role.
• Proven leadership of technical teams.
• Strong knowledge of NZ electrical standards and practices.
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder facilitation.
• Collaborative leadership with mentoring focus.
• Commercial awareness and client-centric mindset.

Responsibilities

• Oversee protection section utilisation, resource planning and guidance.
• Deliver high-quality protection engineering solutions and designs.
• Strengthen client relationships and develop new opportunities.
• Collaborate with Head of Power Systems and leadership to drive capability and business growth.
• Mentor engineers across junior, intermediate and graduate levels.
• Attract, develop and retain high-performing engineering talent.
• Contribute to growth and reputation of Ergo's Protection Engineering practice.
