Job description

The University of Otago is seeking a Proposal and Grants Writer to inspire philanthropic support for the University. The successful candidate will research and develop compelling proposals, produce engaging stewardship reports, and manage the grant application process.

The role/Te mahi

The Proposal and Grants Writer will play a pivotal role in securing funding from individuals, corporations, and grant-making organisations. Responsibilities include creating high-quality fundraising templates and resources, working closely with the Director of DARO, Senior Development Manager, Development Managers, and academic staff, and providing administrative support to the team.

Requirements for the role include:

  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with exceptional skills in Word and Excel.
  • Experienced in desktop publishing with a strong eye for design and layout.
  • Ability to work seamlessly with diverse teams and adjust writing style to meet varying needs.
  • Strong time management, with the ability to meet multiple deadlines efficiently.
  • Dedication to working in a culturally safe and respectful manner and demonstrates an understanding and appreciation of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and Pasifika values.

This is a part-time position (30 hours per week) based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin, with a salary range of $75,631 to $80,503, top of range $88,750 (pro rata).
