Job summary

Tompkins Wake is seeking a Property Lawyer (Solicitor/Associate) to join its Tauranga team. You will handle a mix of commercial and residential property transactions, subdivisions, trusts, and estate planning, with support from Partners and a focus on client service.

Ideal candidate has 3–8 years PQE in property or private client law, strong drafting and communication skills, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a hybrid setup.

Property Lawyer (Solicitor / Associate)

Build your career with our leading Property team, working on meaningful matters in a collaborative and supportive environment. We're growing our Property team at Tompkins Wake and are looking for a Solicitor or Associate to join our Tauranga practice. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced Partners on a broad range of property and private client matters, while continuing to develop your technical expertise and build lasting client relationships.

The Opportunity

You’ll work across a diverse mix of matters including:

• Commercial and residential property transactions
• Subdivisions and developments
• Trusts and asset protection
• Estate planning
• Private client advisory work

You’ll enjoy genuine responsibility, managing your own files (with support where required), collaborating closely with Partners, and contributing to the continued success of a team recognised for its technical excellence and client service.

Our Property team works closely together and regularly collaborates with colleagues across all four Tompkins Wake offices, giving you exposure to a wide variety of clients and matters.

About You

You’ll bring:

• Approximately 3–8 years' PQE in property and/or private client law
• Experience managing or supporting a range of property transactions
• Strong drafting, communication and relationship-building skills
• Commercial judgement and attention to detail
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional client service

Experience in trusts, estate planning or asset protection will be advantageous but is not essential.

While we're ideally seeking someone with around 3–8 years' experience, we're open to hearing from lawyers outside this range who can demonstrate strong capability and the right attitude.
