Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Dunedin is seeking a proactive Property Assistant to join our team. In this full-time role, you’ll support maintenance and gardening tasks across the village, working with the Property Manager and Head Gardener to keep our settings safe, beautiful and well‑run.

You’ll enjoy a varied day, practical hands-on work, and a chance to engage with residents while taking pride in a well cared-for environment and community-focused values.

Qualifications

• Experience in property maintenance and gardening.
• Strong DIY or trade skills - part trade preferred.
• A current driver's licence.
• The ability to work independently and take pride in your work.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with general property and garden maintenance.
• Helping with building maintenance and refurbishments.
• Assisting with landscaping, gardening, and ground care tasks.
• Taking part in property inspections and reporting safety or maintenance issues.

Job Description

We’re looking for a proactive and hands‑on Property Assistant to join our friendly team at our Dunedin village. In this full‑time role, you’ll play a key part in maintaining the high standards Summerset takes pride in – helping to keep our village safe, beautiful, and running smoothly.

You’ll work closely with the Property Manager and Head Gardener to support a wide range of maintenance and gardening tasks across the village. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem‑solving, and the satisfaction of a job well done.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Assisting with general property and garden maintenance
• Helping with building maintenance and refurbishments
• Assisting with landscaping, gardening, and ground care tasks
• Taking part in property inspections and reporting safety or maintenance issues
• Communicating clearly and respectfully with residents, team members, and contractors

This is a Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm position.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone practical, approachable and dependable, with the ability to take initiative and complete a variety of tasks efficiently. This role would suit someone looking to shift into a stable role, that takes pride in their work and surroundings. Someone who likes to engage with people in the village and their home and create a people‑first environment.

You’ll be successful in this role if you have:
