At Engender, we’re tackling one of the dairy industry’s biggest challenges with world-first, laser-based sperm-sorting technology. Our work helps farmers improve animal welfare, strengthen farm economics, and create a more sustainable future. Backed by global genetics leader CRV and powered by a state-of-the-art R&D lab in Auckland’s vibrant waterfront, we’re a diverse, world-class team pushing the boundaries of microfluidics, photonics, biology, and engineering.

If you’re excited by cutting-edge science, big challenges, and work that makes a real impact on the world, you’ll love being part of Engender.

The Role

We’re seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to drive the successful delivery of high-impact projects. You’ll manage cross-functional project teams, ensuring work is delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This role is key for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our development and delivery processes and bringing clarity, structure, and momentum to complex projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Implement industry-standard approaches to project management across the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and close key projects, defining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resources
  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across science, engineering, software, and quality management
  • Act as the main point of contact for project stakeholders, providing updates and managing expectations
  • Convene and chair meetings, develop agendas, take minutes, and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies, addressing issues proactively
  • Manage budgets, resources, and dependencies to ensure successful delivery
  • Collaborate closely with Quality and Product Managers to maintain alignment with business goals and required standards
  • Facilitate continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and supporting change management activities
About You
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, Computer Science, or a related field
  • MBA, Master’s in Project Management, or formal project management certification (e.g., PMP or PRINCE2) is highly desirable
  • Substantial experience managing complex projects, ideally within biotech, agriculture, engineering, or software/R&D environments
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication, organisation, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
  • Skilled in project management tools such as Jira, MS Project, or Asana
  • Solutions-focused, proactive, and able to identify issues and develop workable strategies
Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a ground-breaking company redefining the future of farming
  • Work alongside some of the brightest minds in science and technology
  • Contribute to a mission with real-world impact – improving animal welfare and sustainability
  • Enjoy a modern workplace in Auckland’s thriving waterfront

At Engender, you’ll be more than a Project Manager – you’ll help deliver innovations that change the way the world farms.
