Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is seeking a Practice Lead – Project Management to lead a national team, embed best-practice frameworks, and provide sponsorship oversight for projects delivering community benefits across New Zealand.

You will drive capability building, governance improvements, and delivery excellence, while collaborating with senior leadership to shape delivery standards and outcomes across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Significant experience leading project management in complex infrastructure environments.
• Strong capability in sponsorship, governance and assurance.
• Proven ability to build capability and high-performing teams.
• Deep knowledge of project delivery: risk, schedule, cost, change management.
• Experience navigating complex stakeholder and commercial settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the national project management workforce.
• Embed and champion standard project management practices and governance.
• Provide sponsorship oversight for selected projects and programmes.
