He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
The Project Engineer – Substructure Care (Drainage) will support Project Managers in planning, scoping, procuring design and work packages, contract formation and management, site observations, solving site and design issues, tracking and reporting spend, progress, and other project measures. You will be responsible for executing activities safely and taking personal responsibility for your tasks as part of the Transformation programme within the Network Readiness team.
Key accountabilities include:
- Focus on outcomes and continuous improvement
- Analyze data from inspection equipment and personnel (including but not limited to structures inspection, M136) to assess drainage condition of the Metros Network
- Collaborate with asset engineering, track engineering, civils engineering, and structures engineering to propose and document drainage intervention strategies to achieve network performance
- Define thresholds for drainage intervention and develop processes for the civils maintenance team to implement strategies
- Engage with Infrastructure, Engineering, and Protection teams to deliver optimal drainage strategies for the Metros
- Sponsor and oversee field trials and maintenance for geometry and drainage on the Metros network
- Work collaboratively with Civils and Track Maintenance teams to deliver civils maintenance on the network
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | Skills and experience:
- Proven track record of contributing to successful project outcomes in complex, multidisciplinary environments
- Experience with rail projects is advantageous; Project Management Professional certification is a plus
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including risk management, design, and reporting
- Previous project engineering experience, ideally in railway or construction industries
- Experience in developing project documentation and collaborating with teams to deliver quality results
- Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing and managing workload
- Ability to review work practices, productivity, and costs to maximize financial performance
- Assess risks and scope changes proactively, recommending solutions to mitigate impacts
- Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring effective communication of project progress and impacts

- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline
- Project Management certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP

- Relevant industry or project management certifications
