Job summary

Downer in Dannevirke seeks an experienced Project Engineer to join the Tararua Alliance Delivery Team and deliver civil infrastructure across the Tararua District. You will be involved from planning and design through to construction and completion, working with project managers, operations teams, contracts and stakeholders to deliver value for local communities.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in civil construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience coordinating contractors and subcontractors.
• Site Safe Passport or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day delivery of civil infrastructure projects.
• Manage contractors, subcontractors and on-site suppliers.
• Monitor safety, quality, cost and programme performance.
• Assist in developing and maintaining project programmes.
• Review designs, specifications and technical documents.
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontracts and suppliers.
• Coordinate with Council reps, utility providers, consultants and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality requirements.

We're looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join the Tararua Alliance Delivery Team and play a key role in delivering civil infrastructure projects across the Tararua District. This is an opportunity to step into a hands on project delivery role where you'll be involved from project planning and design through to construction and completion. Working alongside experienced project managers, operational teams, contracts and stakeholders, you'll help deliver projects that improve and maintain critical infrastructure for local communities. Reporting to the Programme Project Manager, you'll be responsible for supporting the planning, development and delivery of a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across the network. This is more than a desk based engineering role. You'll be actively involved in site delivery, managing contracts, monitoring project performance and helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key responsibilities will include;

We're looking for a well-rounded Project Engineer who can confidently balance technical, commercial and delivery responsibilities. You will also have:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years' experience within civil construction, infrastructure or project delivery environments.
• Experience coordinating contractors and subcontractors
• Experience delivering projects from planning through to construction
• Experience in local government, transport infrastructure or Alliance environments
• Site Safe Passport
