Job description

Mō te tūnga | About the role

Play a pivotal role in shaping the successful delivery of a high-profile programme. As the Programme Coordinator, you'll be at the heart of programme management, ensuring seamless coordination and integration across all stages of the programme lifecycle. Working within the P3M framework, you'll bring together planning, scheduling, governance, reporting, risk and issue management, dependency management, change control, and benefits tracking to provide a clear and accurate view of programme performance. Through the effective application of programme management tools, processes and standards, you'll enable informed decision-making, drive alignment across stakeholders, and support successful delivery in line with NZDF, Defence Estate and All of Government requirements.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Leading the programme's interface with the Programme Management Office (PgMO) and coordinating engagement with the Portfolio Management Office (PfMO), ensuring programme activities align with enterprise P3M standards, governance requirements, and reporting expectations. Providing trusted professional judgement to assess programme-wide information, identify emerging trends, determine materiality and tolerance thresholds, and escape significant risks and issues to the appropriate decision-makers. Influencing executive and governance decisions through the provision of high-quality programme insights, reporting, and recommendations that inform funding decisions, delivery sequencing, scope trade-offs, risk management, and value realisation. Coordinating programme-level financial management processes and controls, ensuring financial information is accurately integrated into programme reporting, governance forums, and decision-support activities. You'll maintain visibility across programme budgets and funding tranches, support change control and funding adjustments, and ensure consistency of financial information across programme artefacts. Embedding enterprise P3M frameworks within the programme environment, translating organisational standards, tools and methodologies into practical programme delivery practices that support successful outcomes.

Why This Role Matters

This is more than a coordination role. You'll be a key enabler of programme success, providing the structure, oversight and insight that supports effective governance, strategic decision-making, and delivery confidence across a complex and significant programme. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the Future Naval Base programme, supporting projects from concept through to delivery and leaving a lasting legacy on one of New Zealand's most important strategic sites.
