Job summary

PAK'nSAVE Tamatea in Hawke's Bay/Napier is seeking an exceptional Produce Manager with fresh food experience to lead one of the store's busiest departments. You will ensure top-quality fruit and vegetables, well-presented displays, and outstanding service every day, while coaching a motivated team.

This hands-on leadership role involves selecting and buying produce, managing stock and stock rotation, and building strong vendor relationships to meet customer expectations.

Freshfood experience is a must for this role. We're looking for someone who understands whatit takes to manage fresh produce, from quality and presentation through tostock management, availability, food safety and buying. Experience within asupermarket environment would be a significant advantage, but most importantly,you'll need a strong background working with fresh food or produce.

Aboutthe role

Our ProduceManager is responsible for leading one of the store's busiest fresh fooddepartments, ensuring our customers enjoy the highest quality fruit andvegetables, well-presented displays, and exceptional service every day.

This is ahands-on leadership role where you'll use your fresh food knowledge andexperience to drive department performance, maintain outstanding qualitystandards, ensure excellent availability, and build strong relationships withour produce vendors.

You'll leadand develop a team, manage the day-to-day operation of the department, and playa key role in selecting and buying quality produce that delivers value andmeets the expectations of our customers.

Keyresponsibilities include:
  • Leading, motivating and developing the Produce team to achieveoperational excellence.
  • Maintaining exceptional standards of freshness, quality,merchandising and product availability.
  • Building strong relationships with vendors and staying up to updatewith seasonal availability, pricing and market trends.
  • Driving department performance through sales, productivity, qualityand service outcomes.
  • Training, coaching and supporting team members to achieve theirfull potential through development and succession planning.
  • Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, health andsafety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Leading from the front and being hands-on in a busy and demandingfresh food environment.
Aboutyou

We'relooking for an experienced fresh food professional who understands what ittakes to run a successful produce operation. You'll have a strong understandingof fresh food quality, presentation, stock management and food safety, alongwith the leadership skills to bring your team along with you.

You musthave:
  • Strong previous experience working in a fresh food or produceenvironment.
  • Experience managing fresh food stock, including ordering, rotationand availability.
  • Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A customer-first mindset and exceptional attention to detail.
  • The ability to lead, coach and develop a team.
