Job summary

TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a Process Development Technologist for an established nutraceutical manufacturer in Auckland. The role bridges the product development team and the factory floor, guiding trials through to full commercial production on-site with the production team.

You will lead scale‑ups, troubleshoot formulations and processes, and collaborate with engineers and operators to implement improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in a process development, process technologist, food technologist, product development or manufacturing support role.
• Experience in nutraceutical, food, dairy, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Experience with packaging technology.
• A relevant bachelor's degree, such as Food Technology or Pharmacy.
• A good understanding of GMP manufacturing principles.
• Strong problem-solving skills with ability to scale from benchtop to full commercial.
• Hands-on, practical mindset focused on factory floor work.

Responsibilities

Role and Company:

My client is a well-established nutraceutical manufacturer looking for a Process Development Technologist due to internal promotion. This role is the link between the product development team and the factory floor. You will be based on site and working alongside the production team, making sure new products transition smoothly from trial and testing through to full commercial production.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the scale up of new products from development, identifying gaps and working through solutions before they become problems.
• Troubleshooting issues with formulations, processes, equipment and packaging as they arise.
• Coordinating with engineers, packaging technologists and production team leaders to resolve issues and implement improvements.
• Adapting formulations to optimise them for production and quality outcomes.
• Conducting factory trials, analysing results.
• Delivering technical training and coaching to operators and line leaders.
• Contributing to continuous improvement, yield improvement, waste reduction and cost saving initiatives.

Requirements:

If you are someone with product development and packaging experience who prefers being hands on and out on the factory floor rather than sitting behind a desk, and you enjoy solving practical problems as they come up, this role will suit you well.
