Lindisfarne College Hawke's Bay

  • Leading State-Integrated Boys’ Secondary School

Lindisfarne College is a state-integrated Presbyterian boys’ school for students in Y7 to 13, offering both day and boarding options in the heart of Hawke’s Bay. Established in 1953, the College is built on strong Christian values, a proud Scottish heritage and a supportive community culture, where boys are known, valued and challenged to be their best.

This is a unique opportunity for an outstanding leader to build on and ensure the College continues to thrive as a compelling education and development environment for boys in New Zealand.

The Rector will work closely with the College Council and Proprietors’ Trust Board to provide exceptional strategic and operational leadership, delivering a pre-eminent and aspirational education experience.

The focus will be on providing strategic and visible leadership to guide the College in alignment with its Presbyterian character and Four Cornerstones framework – Academic, Cultural, Sporting and Christian.

A modern educational approach will be crucial in building on the College’s academic achievements and in continuing to develop ‘best practice’ curriculum and co-curricular activities.

Skills & experience

The successful candidate will be a values-driven, visionary leader who embodies the College’s special character, and is committed to fostering excellence across all areas of school life.

A track record of achievement at Principal or Deputy Principal level in a secondary school setting is ideally sought, together with boys’ school experience.

Other skills and attributes include:

  • Strengths in fostering strong relationships with the College’s stakeholder community and a visible public presence that combines strength, confidence, empowerment and humility in leadership style.
  • A strategic thinker with the capability to lead vision, innovation and continuous improvement, while maintaining operational excellence.
  • A deep knowledge of teaching and learning, curriculum leadership and pedagogical best practice.
  • An understanding of the importance of boarding and the house system.
