Role overview

Jacobs is seeking a dynamic and experienced Principal Protection Engineer to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will leverage technical expertise and project skills to drive success and foster client relationships. We’re hoping to hear from those with the ability to deliver high quality Protection engineering solutions, with positive communication skills, and the capability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment. This exciting opportunity to join our diverse team in New Zealand offers flexible work arrangements available in Auckland, Christchurch, or Wellington, open to either full time or part time options. Here\'s an overview of some of the interesting aspects of this role

  • Manage Protection and Control engineering teams in delivering complex projects from concept to detailed design through to supporting construction.
  • Manage the detailed design, design review and implementation of protection and control schemes for Transmission and Distribution applications in New Zealand (up to 500 kV).
  • Develop protection setting calculations for various protection relay configurations and schemes.
  • Conduct power system modelling and simulation using industry standard software.
  • Perform relay coordination studies and short circuit analyses.
  • Utilise knowledge and experience of secondary systems circuitry design and High Voltage power system protection schemes and principles.
