We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior or Principal Planner to join our Wellington office, as an integral part of our national Community Development team. With your proven track record in providing excellent professional planning services, support and advice with a focus on quality and reliability, you will work on a range of projects for our diverse public and private clients across New Zealand.

As a Senior Planner, you’ll be involved in interesting and meaningful projects around the country, help to identify and win opportunities to work with our clients, and support our team’s outstanding culture.

This Varied And Exciting Role Involves
  • Leading and delivering projects across the full Planning spectrum, working with the rest of our Planning team, and collaborating with our broad range of technical specialists from other disciplines
  • Providing expert evidence at Council hearings or Environment Court hearings
  • Leading and/or supporting community and stakeholder engagement
  • Thought leadership and sharing your knowledge of statutory planning with others in the Planning team, and our colleagues from other disciplines
  • Identifying and leading the development of new business opportunities for Stantec, with full support.

Qualifications
About you
  • A recognised tertiary qualification in planning or an NZPI-recognised equivalent
  • Full membership of the NZPI, or eligibility to work towards it
  • Broad professional planning experience of at least seven years.
  • Thorough practical knowledge of, and experience working with the New Zealand Planning system
  • The ability to establish, build and foster great relationships with clients and colleagues, and to build your own professional network
  • Excellent all-round communication skills, a passion for problem solving, and a drive to achieve outstanding outcomes
  • A great sense of ‘team’, a positive attitude and enthusiasm for strong career growth.
