Job summary
AECOM in Wellington is seeking a highly skilled Principal Geotechnical Engineer to support the Te Awa Kairangi Riverlink project during its critical construction phase. You will provide specialist geotechnical expertise on-site, collaborating with contractors, designers, and project managers to resolve complex challenges and safeguard outcomes.
Ideal candidates bring Chartered or professional membership, NZ ground condition knowledge, and proficiency in Cliq, Slide2, and Plaxis for slope
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering with professional membership preferred.
- Proven geotechnical design and construction support experience for complex infra projects.
- Proficient in geotechnical modelling software including Cliq, Slide2 and Plaxis.
- Driver's licence and on-site work capability for construction environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert geotechnical oversight throughout the construction phase of Riverlink, ensuring compliance with standards and safety requirements.
- Review and validate ground investigation data, advising on earthworks, foundation design, slope stability, retaining structures, and ground improvement.
- Collaborate with contractors, designers and multidisciplinary teams to address geotechnical challenges and maintain project integrity.
- Support construction teams with geotechnical methodologies, risk assessments and mitigation planning.
