Job summary

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) invites a Principal Geospatial Engineer to lead and shape geospatial engineering across the transport network. You will act as a technical authority, partner with senior leaders and delivery teams to ensure scalable, secure solutions and grow the geospatial practice through mentoring.

You will also lead our Geospatial Community of Practice, driving knowledge sharing, innovation and continuous improvement across squads and partners while shaping enterprise

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering enterprise geospatial solutions and web mapping applications using ESRI technologies.
• Proven mentoring and developing technical specialists to build organisational capability.
• Ability to influence senior leaders and provide trusted technical advice on complex decisions.
• Experience with enterprise geospatial platforms and services.
• Expertise across ArcGIS Enterprise and modern geospatial technologies.
• Experience with spatial databases and enterprise data platforms.
• Experience building and supporting ETL processes, ideally using FME.
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead as a trusted technical authority on geospatial engineering.
• Partner with senior leaders and delivery teams to ensure scalable, secure, and resilient geospatial solutions.
• Grow NZTA's geospatial engineering capability by coaching and mentoring.
• Lead the Geospatial Community of Practice across squads, programs and partners.
