Crescent Consulting is seeking a Principal Full Stack / Frontend Engineer to shape the future of our technology platforms from Christchurch. The role balances hands-on coding with setting technical direction across frontend, backend, cloud, and data domains.

You will influence design decisions, mentor engineers, and drive high-impact projects in a hybrid Auckland/Christchurch environment, contributing to global payments and FX platforms.

Qualifications

• Principal-level software engineering experience in production environments.
• Strong frontend experience with modern web technologies (Vue.js/React/TypeScript).
• Strong full stack capability or deep frontend architecture experience with backend influence.
• Backend experience with object‑oriented languages (C#, Java, etc.).
• Experience with service-oriented or microservices architectures.
• Exposure to AWS and modern cloud deployment practices.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction across complex, high-impact engineering work.
• Anchor ambiguous problems into clear, shippable plans.
• Collaborate across squads to improve standards and decision-making.
• Maintain hands-on contribution to production code where needed.
• Mentor engineers and raise engineering standards.
• Lead design reviews and influence across frontend, backend, cloud, and data areas.
