Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer (EICA) in Auckland. You will provide technical leadership, oversee projects, and help develop our people and client relationships.

This is a senior role within our Electrical and Industrial team delivering water, wastewater, and industrial projects. You will lead electrical design across complex infrastructure, act as senior technical authority, mentor engineers, manage delivery, quality and risk, and build trusted client relationships

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Experience in industrial or infrastructure environments.
• Consultancy experience preferred and beneficial.

The role – what you’ll do

As a Principal Electrical Engineer (EICA), you will provide technical leadership and project oversight while supporting the development of our people and client relationships.

You will:

• Lead and review electrical design across complex infrastructure and industrial projects
• Act as a senior technical authority within project teams
• Support and mentor engineers across multiple grades
• Take responsibility for project delivery, quality, and risk management
• Build trusted relationships with clients and contribute to winning work
• Collaborate across disciplines and locations using Mott MacDonald’s global network

Typical projects include water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, chemical dosing systems, industrial facilities, and associated control and SCADA systems.

This role is based in Auckland, working closely with teams across the region.

About you

You are an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys applying deep technical knowledge while supporting others to grow.

You will bring:

• A degree in Electrical Engineering
• Strong experience in industrial or infrastructure environments
• Consultancy experience (preferred)
• The ability to lead technical delivery and review others’ work
• Well‑developed communication and stakeholder management skills
