Te Whiwhinga mahi| The opportunity

The Partnerships & Engagement Directorate is responsible for building and maintaining AT's trust and reputation through outstanding partnerships, engagement, marketing and communications. We represent the voices of customers and communities to ensure AT keeps them at the heart of all it does, sharing and amplifying great stories to effect change and grow understanding.

We are looking for a Principal, Communications and Engagement to join our Strategic Programmes team to oversee a multi-year programme of work which will transform how Aucklanders move aroundour City Centre.

This role will work closely with the Head of Strategic Programmes to forecast, oversee, manage and support implementation of this ongoing programme of work. You will provide strategic advice, guidance and mentoring to communications and engagement team members working in a matrix environment across multiple teams. As well as ensuring there is alignment and consistency in messaging and shared opportunities, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders, partners and customers to build influence and help decision makers to deliver informed outcomes.

Please note: This is a 6-month fixed-term opportunity.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

You will bring 8-10 years relevant experience in a communication and engagement role including 3 years in a team leader or similar role, alongside the following:

  • Proven track record of developing and delivering communication and engagement strategies for high profile and complex programmes in transport, infrastructure or a related area.
  • Experience providing strategic advice in a fast- paced environment and identifying and managing risk.
  • Managing multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Experience working in one or more of the following would be highly desirable; the public sector or local government, infrastructure or transport sectors.
  • Strong resilience, optimism and empathy.
  • Experience delivering customer focused outcomes.
  • IAP2 training or knowledge is preferred.
