About the role

We're on the lookout for a new Principal Civil Engineer to join our Three Waters Team. This role is located in our Auckland office however other locations can be considered too. You'll play a key role in designing, planning and managing three waters infrastructure projects. Key responsibilitiesinclude:

  • Provide technical expertise, project management and delivery solutions across a range ofprojects involving stormwater management plans, hydraulic modelling, engineering design, and other flood management and network projects.
  • Investigation, planning and design of water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and contribute towards business development initiatives such as identifying opportunities and writing proposals to enhance HG’s future project prospects.
  • Guide and coach junior team members in an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning
  • Play a key role in shaping better infrastructure for a diverse range of public and private clients across Aotearoa.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • 10-12+ years work experience in related roles.
  • CharteredProfessional Engineer (CPEng) status or working towards it.
  • Experience in delivering stormwater projects: skills in Water Sensitive/Low Impact Design, hydraulic modelling, preparing Catchment/Stormwater Management Plans, or working in Three Waters/Infrastructure space are a bonus.
  • Experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and design of pipe and surface networks, or flood control systems.
  • Proven experience in client relationship management and identification of opportunities is advantageous.
  • Skills using or interpreting results with software such as InfoWorks ICM, MIKE DHI, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW and GIS.
  • Enthusiastic about sustainability, resilience and green infrastructure.
  • Tertiary qualified with a relevant degree such as a Bachelor of Engineering.
