Job summary

Awanui Labs at Hutt Hospital in Wellington is seeking a detail‑oriented Pre‑Analytical Technician to join the Specimen Services team. You will help ensure specimens are correctly identified, registered and prepared for testing, contributing to accurate and timely results for patient care.

The role includes handling clinical trial specimens, maintaining rigorous documentation, and working across rotating shifts including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum of NCEA Level 3, including Science, Mathematics and English.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Good computer literacy and ability to learn laboratory information systems.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills under high workload.
• Clear communication and teamwork, with a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Specimen Reception and Processing: receiving, checking and processing patient specimens for testing.
• Clinical Trial Specimen Processing: handling and processing trial specimens per study protocols.
• Quality, Safety and Teamwork: following SOPs, maintaining records, and working rosters including evenings and weekends.

Education

NCEA Level 3 including Science, Mathematics and English
