Who are we?

Established in 2016, ICE is a privately owned entity that specializes in training delivery in the plumbing, gasfitting, and drainlaying sector. We work closely with stakeholders to ensure ICE trainees receive relevant, timely training at a high standard.

The purpose & meaning of the role:

We’re seeking a practical tutor in plumbing, gasfitting, & drainlaying. This is an entry-level role with potential for development and progression within the company.

Initially, you will focus on practical teaching while obtaining adult education qualifications and necessary certifications.

This role is challenging but rewarding, especially as you see students progress in their careers.

Salary Banding: $80,000.00 – 85,000.00 DOE + KiwiSaver + Benefits

Your Job

The Practical Tutor – Plumbing, Gasfitting & Drainlaying reports to the Otaki-based LSM and is part of the ICE Otaki team and the broader ICE PGD team.

Your Key Responsibilities

1. Engage positively with students, monitor their welfare, and identify their learning needs.
2. Use effective practical teaching methods, establish clear objectives, and assess progress through feedback.
3. Provide hands-on support to students daily.
4. Lead by example and embody ICE values.
5. Ensure all health & safety standards are met during training.
6. Deliver practical demonstrations for PGD.
7. Teach students the fundamentals of PGD, including tool and equipment maintenance.
8. Communicate effectively and transfer knowledge efficiently.
9. Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
10. Review and improve lesson plans in line with curriculum standards.
11. Pursue US 4098 certification for trainee assessment (funded and supported by ICE).
12. Utilize IT and computer skills (training provided by ICE).
13. Work under supervision of an ICE certifier.

Your Qualifications & Skills:

1. Registered or certified in Plumbing, Gasfitting, and Drainlaying.
2. Hold a registered PGD license (funded by ICE).
3. Extensive experience in the PGD industry.
4. Follow lesson plans, design courses, and record task completion and results.
