Job summary

PowerNet in Invercargill seeks a Power Technician to join the local technical team. You will plan work, allocate resources and perform servicing and testing of equipment and protection schemes to ensure reliability and safety.

The role is full-time (40 hours/week) with an hourly rate of 50–53 NZD, plus overtime and allowances. A dynamic lower South Island location offers great work/life balance and opportunities to grow professionally within PowerNet.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of current EWRB limited registration.
  • Registered Technician with current practicing licence.
  • 3+ years in a high voltage environment in NZ or 5+ years overseas in a high voltage role.
  • Proven ability to test control and protection systems.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Class 1 driver’s licence.
  • Willing to participate in an after-hours fault roster.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work, allocate resources and undertake planned servicing and testing of equipment and protection schemes.
  • Testing and commissioning of network equipment to maintain reliability and safety.

Job description

As a Power Technician you will be an integral part of our Invercargill technical team who undertake the testing and commissioning of our network equipment to maintain equipment reliability and safety. The work is varied and interesting, with opportunities for personal and industry growth.

In this role you will plan work, allocate resources and undertake planned servicing and testing of equipment and protection schemes.

This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week with the hourly rate ranging from $50-$53 per hour, plus overtime and allowances subject to skills and experience.

  • Has a minimum 3 years’ experience working in a high voltage environment within NZ or a minimum of 5 years' overseas experience as a Power Technician or equivalent in a high voltage industry.
  • A proven ability to test control and protection systems relating to the industry
  • Is competent with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Has strong numeracy and literacy skills
  • A class 1 drivers licence
  • Is willing to participate in an after-hours fault roster
