Help our tamariki grow strong in who they are.

Picture a tamaiti confidently leading karakia, naming their maunga, or singing a waiata they learned at Puna. That's what we're here for. At Te Puna Manawa o Whakaue, culture and identity are woven through every day, so our tamariki grow up connected to te ao Māori and proud of where they come from.

About us

The role

We're seeking a registered pouako for our bilingual Puna, where te reo Māori is the language of choice.

You’ll bring the Ngāti Whakaue curriculum to life alongside Te Whāriki, planning age-appropriate learning that follows the interests of our tamariki, with excursions linked to kaupapa. You’ll keep portfolios and learning stories rich with whānau voice, and make sure whānau feel informed, confident and welcome.

You’ll also help keep Puna safe and running well, supporting the wellbeing of tamariki, whānau and kaimahi and meeting all quality early learning requirements.

What you'll bring
  • A recognised ECE qualification and current Teaching Council registration with a practising certificate.
  • Sound knowledge of Te Whāriki, documentation, appraisal and PLD to Teaching Council and ERO standards.
  • An understanding of te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and a commitment to growing te reo.
  • A warm, professional team player.
  • A current full NZ Driver Licence.

If you want your teaching to be part of that legacy, we'd love to hear from you.
