About the Role

Our client, a leading asset management firm, is seeking a highly experienced and analytical Portfolio Manager to manage fixed income portfolios for institutional and retail clients. This crucial role, based in Queenstown, Eastern Cape , requires a deep understanding of fixed income markets, macroeconomics, and sophisticated investment strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing and managing portfolios to meet specific investment objectives, risk parameters, and client mandates. Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement investment strategies for fixed income portfolios, aligning with client objectives and risk tolerance. Conduct in-depth macroeconomic analysis and fixed income market research to identify investment opportunities and risks. Select and manage individual fixed income securities (government bonds, corporate bonds, money market instruments) to optimize portfolio returns. Monitor portfolio performance, conduct attribution analysis, and make necessary adjustments to asset allocation and security selection. Manage portfolio risk effectively, including interest rate risk, credit risk, and liquidity risk. Engage with clients to explain investment strategies, performance, and market outlook. Collaborate with research analysts, traders, and other portfolio managers. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, investment guidelines, and internal policies. Prepare comprehensive portfolio reports for clients and internal stakeholders. Stay abreast of industry trends, new financial instruments, and regulatory changes impacting fixed income markets.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree and/or CFA designation are highly preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in portfolio management, investment analysis, or a related role, with a strong focus on fixed income. Proven track record of successfully managing fixed income portfolios and delivering competitive returns. Deep understanding of fixed income markets, valuation methodologies, and risk management techniques. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and analytical software. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Familiarity with various trading platforms and market data providers. Knowledge of South African capital markets and regulatory environment. High level of integrity and dedication to fiduciary responsibilities.
