Job summary

Te Tauraki, a Ngāi Tahu subsidiary based in Ōtautahi/Christchurch, seeks a Portfolio and Performance Lead to focus on Iwi Māori Partnership Boards, support strong provider relationships, monitor hauora outcomes, and inform system improvements across Te Waipounamu on a fixed term to 30 June 2028.

Portfolio and Performance Lead | Te Tauraki

Christchurch – Ōtautahi | Fixed term to 30 June 2028, full time

Reporting to the Head of Funding, Monitoring & Performance, Te Tauraki has an exciting opportunity to for a Portfolio & Performance Lead - with a focus specifically on Iwi Māori Partnership Boards, to support strong provider relationships, monitor hauora service performance, and use whānau voice and data to inform system improvement, service design and investment decisions across Te Waipounamu for a fixed term until June 2028.

In this role, you will:

• Build trusted relationships with Hauora Māori providers, health service providers, government agencies and partners across Te Waipounamu.
• Use whānau voice, data and provider reporting to monitor service performance, access equity and system effectiveness.
• Provide evidence-based advice, reports and recommendations that support IMPB priorities, service improvement and future investment.

As a subsidiary of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Te Tauraki is the Kāi Tahu-mandated vehicle for advancing health and wellbeing aspirations for whānau Māori within the Kāi Tahu takiwā. Te Tauraki operates as an Iwi Māori Partnership Board under the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022 and as a Whānau Ora commissioning agency for Te Waipounamu.

Our work is centred on achieving better hauora and oranga outcomes for whānau. We are guided by kaupapa Māori approaches, whānau voice, data insights and strong relationships across the health and wellbeing system.

Reporting to the Head of Funding, Monitoring and Performance, this role will manage hauora and oranga relationships across Te Waipounamu, with a specific focus on Te Tauraki IMPB mahi. You will work with providers, agencies and stakeholders to understand local and regional experiences, identify opportunities for improvement, and amplify whānau voice into system design and decision-making.

You will monitor hauora service performance, support provider oversight, assess service uptake and equity of access, and prepare high-quality advice, reports and briefings. Your insights will help shape hauora priorities for the Ngāi Tahu takiwā and support responsive, whānau-centred service development.

You will be a relationship-focused and analytical professional who can work respectfully across complex health, social sector and provider environments. You will be confident interpreting data, listening to whānau voice, and turning insights into practical recommendations that improve outcomes.

You will bring relevant experience in public health, policy, contract management, Māori development, performance monitoring, service oversight or contract administration. An understanding of kaupapa Māori approaches, hauora Māori commissioning, clinical systems, health sector approaches, and te ao Māori will support your success in this role.

Ideal skills and experience include:

• Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.
• Experience using data, reporting and evaluation to support service improvement.
• Knowledge and understanding of te ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and kaupapa Māori approaches.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively and deliver quality advice under pressure.
• A reasonable amount of travel may be required.
