Job summary

Air Chathams is seeking a Port Manager to lead operations at Wellington Airport. You will manage a small team, oversee cargo handling, forklift operations, and ensure on-time performance while building strong client relationships.

Based in Wellington, the role is hands-on and managerial, with weekend work during peak periods and opportunities to grow the cargo business through excellent service and new freight opportunities to the Chatham Islands.

Qualifications

• Experience in port/airport operations preferred.
• Forklift experience or certification advantageous.
• Knowledge of Dangerous Goods Regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operational management of the Wellington port and staff management.
• Oversee handling and storage of in and outbound cargo for our clients.
• Maintain strong relationships and communication with clients and suppliers.
• Act as Air Chathams’ point of contact for all Airport operational matters.
• Manage quality, service delivery standards and resolve issues promptly.
• Manage health & safety and quality assurance systems.
• Operate a forklift and assist with cargo handling when needed.
